What is Jinji Cycles?

My name is Jason, and I'm the owner of Jinji Cycles. I would like to take this first post and explain exactly what Jinji Cycles is, where we came from, and, hopefully, where we're going.

Jinji Cycles is, in simplest terms, a bike shop. However, Jinji Cycles is unlike most bike shops you've known. Jinji Cycles is a dedicated bicycle service center and not a bicycle retail outlet. "Bicycle Retailers have service centers, so why should a separate service center exist?" you might say. Well, I'll get to that. For now understand that the goal of Jinji Cycles will be to provide advanced, highly precise, accounted, bicycle maintenance and repair to the elite and appreciative cyclist. My intent shall be to divorce the service of bicycles from the retail environment it has customarily been associated with. I have defined the elite cyclists as those, who for the sake of their cycling related activities, require advanced cycling technology and the advanced service and repair associated with that equipment. This group would include, but not be limited to, road bike racers, mountain bike racers, and triathletes. Appreciative cyclists are those who, for the sheer passion for their sport, have dedicated themselves to the ownership of high quality bicycles and components, and as the owners of such equipment are entitled not only to the correct, but also the best service possible. Such then will be the end goal of what I do at Jinji Cycles: to provide the absolute best bicycle service available . . . and prove it.

So, why do all of this? Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I was born and raised in Grand Junction; a Colorado native through and through. I began mountain biking the trails of Grand Junction and Fruita in the early 90's when I was still in junior high. Sure, my Toys R Us bike wasn't the most advanced equipment, even for that decade, but on that bike I developed a passion for this sport, a passion wholly disconnected from the technological status of a given bike. During those years I learned everything I could to work on my own bikes and those of my friends. After college I got my first bike shop job at The Bike Shop in Grand Junction in early 2003. After that season I moved to Virginia Beach, VA where I worked at what was then called HDK Cycles, but now Bike Beat. In Virginia I learned two things: I hate humidity, but I love road biking. At both shops I had the opportunity to work with some very skilled and knowledgeable people and gained a perspective on what a good bicycle mechanic should be like. In 2005 I moved back to Colorado and got a job in a local shop where I have spent the last two years serving as the service manager. Through my years in bike shop service departments I have grown increasingly dissatisfied with several elements of your everyday bike shop. Later posts will elaborate on this. Nearly every industry that requires service has some sort of service option separate from the retail center except for bicycles. Jinji Cycles stands to fill that void and provide a bicycle service experience that exceeds the traditional bike shop in virtually every way. For myself, you see, I'm a mechanic and I want to continue to be a mechanic; in fact, I want to be your mechanic. Come on back to learn more about what Jinji Cycles has to offer, or email me at thejinji@hotmail.com and make an appointment to visit. Thanks. Jason
