2009 Mountain States Cup Rabbit Valley Rally

On Friday, April 17th, we left for Fruita, CO in the middle of a roaring front range spring snowstorm. We left town at 11am not knowing when or if we would make it to the sunny western slope.

I grew up in Colorado and went to school in Northern Wisconsin, so I've driven through plenty of bad weather. This storm was definitely one of the worst.
Just outside Denver past the Lookout Mountain exit we ran into this, the I-70 parking lot.

. . . caused by this guy.

Fruita weather was, however, perfect.

Here's the Jinji Cycles neutral support tent.

Fixing bikes. There was no shortage of poorly adjust brakes and derailleurs. What I learned: every race bike needs work.

It was great to have my little helper, my daughter Aspen.

The tool table.

The Jinji Cycles tent down among Dale's Pale Ale/Spot bikes, Feedback Sports, and Shimano. Not bad company at all.

What a sight.

Special thanks to Sarah and Keith from the M0untain States Cup for letting us come and fix some bikes.

Some videos of the race can be seen at superhumanmag.com.

Next stop: Nathrop, May 1-3. See you there.
